Caitlin Bender, RSW, BSW, a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW RSW# 18640), as well as a Master of Social Work and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SE) student. My professional background includes experience in mental health, addictions, and extensive experience in working with children and families through children’s services.
Scope of Practice
As a Registered Social Worker, I offer counseling services, to individuals from any cultural background. Services are available to adults and youth ages 12+, providing emotional support, guidance, and practical strategies for mental wellness. My approach is client-centered. Meaning, I work at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.
It is important to note that while I provide counseling services, I am not a therapist or psychologist. This means I do not diagnose mental health conditions or provide clinical therapy. Insurance & Billing
My services may be covered by certain insurance plans that include Registered Social Worker (RSW) counseling. Please check with your provider to confirm eligibility.
At this time I do not offer direct billing. I do however provide receipts for reimbursement. Stay tuned for updates regarding direct billing.
Payment is due at the time of service. Accepted payment methods include credit, debit, and e-transfer.

Thank you for your consideration in/for booking with Buffalo Prairie Wellness. By engaging in services, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions set out below and acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read carefully before proceeding to your booking request.
Services Provided
Buffalo Prairie Wellness offers virtual counseling services to individuals aged 12 and up. These services are provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and are intended for mental health support, stress management, and personal growth. Please note that these sessions are not psychotherapy or psychological treatment.
Crisis Support Disclaimer
Buffalo Prairie Wellness does not provide crisis intervention or emergency mental health services. If you are in crisis or require immediate support, please contact a crisis helpline in your area. In Canada, you can call Talk Suicide Canada at 1-833-456-4566 or text 45645 (available 24/7). Additionally, the National Indian Residential School Crisis Line is 1-866-925-4419 and is available 24/7 for former residential school students and their families who need emotional and crisis support.
If you are in danger or need urgent medical assistance, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Client Eligibility & Responsibilities
Clients must be 12 years or older to receive services. Parental/guardian consent will be required for minors.
Clients are responsible for providing accurate personal information, including emergency contacts.
Sessions are not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care. If you are experiencing a crisis or emergency, please contact a crisis service or emergency response in your area.
Confidentiality & Privacy
All sessions are confidential, except in cases where disclosure is required by law, including suspected harm to self or others, child protection concerns, or court orders. I have a legal duty to report.
Secure, encrypted platforms will be used for virtual sessions to protect privacy. However, clients are responsible for ensuring they have a quiet, private space for sessions.
Client records are securely stored in compliance with HIPPA privacy legislation.
Booking & Cancellation Policy
Appointments must be booked in advance through either the designated online system, or by speaking with Caitlin directly.
Cancellations or rescheduling require at least 24 hours' notice.
No-shows or late cancellations (less than 24 hours' notice) will be subject to requiring a deposit for future session booking.
In the event of a personal emergency or unforeseen circumstance, please reach out as soon as possible to discuss options.
Fees & Payment
Session fees are due upon receipt of invoice.
Payments can be made via e-transfer to caitlin@buffaloprairiewellness or the online payment portal.
Buffalo Prairie Wellness currently does not directly bill insurance. Clients are responsible for checking their coverage and submitting receipts for reimbursement if applicable.
Refunds & Termination of Services
Refunds are not provided for completed sessions.
If a session is canceled by Buffalo Prairie Wellness due to unforeseen circumstances, rescheduling will be offered.
The counsellor reserves the right to discontinue services if it is determined that the client’s needs would be in the best interest of another counsellor or therapist/needs exceed the scope of practice or if there is a breach of policies. In such cases, referrals to other professionals may be provided.
Technology & Online Sessions:
Clients are responsible for ensuring they have a stable internet connection and a private space for virtual sessions.
Buffalo Prairie Wellness is not liable for interruptions due to technology issues outside of its control. If a session is disrupted, an alternative time may be arranged.
Informed Consent & Agreement. By booking a session, you confirm that you:
Understand the nature and scope of services provided.
Have read and agreed to the confidentiality, payment, and cancellation policies.
Acknowledge that Buffalo Prairie Wellness provides support services but is not clinical therapy, psychiatric care, or emergency intervention.
